Additionally, i just noticed that if i dosconnect from KPPP, that i can use
the icons and apps again??? weird! Then, i reconnect and the apps and icons
stop working....as if KPPP somehow blocks a path??

I logged into the command line prompt (ctrl-alt-F1) and checked the dir at
root, which was; "desktop" and "nsmail"......what happened to the other
directories and files??????
And how do i restore them???

What happens when you type 'kppp' in the command line? kppp might not be
in your path. Add it to your path in .bash_profile or /etc/profile and
logout of all windows and login again.
