Okay here is the note I got from the Bay LUG people... everyone with a
confirmation should have gotten this. I wanted to send a copy to the
nuts list because it seemed like a few people in Sac were considering
going last minute-ish. In particular Harry was interested ... he was
right about them being full.
Sorry for the last minute bad news...
Mike

You are receiving this message because you are a confirmed attendee for the
BALUG dinner and talk featuring Linus Torvalds which will take place
tomorrow, Tuesday, June 15th.
As a result of the overwhelming demand to attend this meeting, BALUG has
arranged with our host, the Four Seas Restaurant, to use its regular dining
hall in addition to the upstairs banquet hall that we normally use. This
will allow 500 people to attend.
Since the restaurant will be feeding many more people than is normal for a
BALUG dinner, they will need more time to serve the meal than usual. To
accomodate this, dinner will be served PROMPTLY at 7pm, and the doors of the
Four Seas Restaurant will be open for BALUG attendees beginning an hour
earlier than normal, at 5:30pm.
Seating in the upstairs banquet hall, where the presentation will be given,
is based on the order in which people registered at the BALUG Web site. The
attendees in the overflow hall downstairs will be seeing Linus' presentation
via a video feed on projection TVs. We will also encourage Linus to spend
some time downstairs as well.
At 6:45pm any unfilled seats in the upstairs banquet hall will be opened up
to more people from the overflow hall downstairs (again according to the
order that attendees registered on the Web site). If you arrive late, you
may find that you have been moved from the upstairs hall to the overflow
hall. To avoid this, please arrive as early as you can.
If you made reservations for more than one person on the Web site, you may
find that your group was split among two different tables. To put all the
members of your group together, after everyone has been seated check with
the other parties at your table to see if anyone is willing to switch.
Since the Web-based registration allowed you to reserve seats for more than
one person, it would speed up the sign-in process if you can give each
person in your party a copy of the confirmation that was emailed to you, and
have them bring the printout to the meeting tomorrow night.
If you found out that you will be unable to come to the meeting after
registering for the event, please send an email to rsvp@balug.org indicating
you are cancelling your reservation.
